How times change. Three years on from a gig at the Imperial where Spacemen 3 had to finish their set early to avoid hassle with the bikers who drank there, they return for a free hometown show, a warm-up for their biggest ever gig at the Town And Country club in London three days later.

I had already dropped my two tabs and by the time the group started playing, they were kicking in just as those bikers went cartoon like an angry version of Phineas and Franklin Freak brothers with eyeballs popping out on springs with luminous bile coming from their mouths in slow motion. I did my best to get home as fast as possible and had pushed my wardrobe in front of my bedroom door by the time Pete K came to find me and see if I was ok ha ha bless 💎🐶💜
