  1. I was there! I was a student working in London for the summer. I was barely familiar with the band before the gig but I went with a friend and was stunned by how good they were. I also remember Eat being an impressive support, with Summer in the City working well because it was a hot summer in the city, but the headliners dominated, opening new vistas in music for me.

  2. Hot! Hot Hot!
    Though I had to force myself into a mundane Monday job down the city the next morning, we couldn’t miss this; especially as Kentish Town was only a walk home.
    Got totally wasted around the corner, as the Bull and Gate next door was packed, as usual (can’t remember the name of that pub which has since closed) – the drink was flowing ’cause of the summer weather.
    Who’d have thought the Spacemen would soon finish not long later?
